Point
The women in “The Good Earth” had low status and were expected to be subservient to the men in their lives in different ways.
Explain
For instance, when O-Lan married Wang Lung, she had to prepare for the wedding feast and it was expected of her to serve the men of the family and their guests first. She has to put their needs above her own even though it was her wedding as well. Furthermore, she exhibited great modesty by not allowing herself to be seen by other men on her wedding day.
Evidence
This was exemplified by the quote from pg 22 where Wang Lung was especially pleased with O-Lan when she said that she did not want to come out and eat with the men. “Wang Lung felt in him a great pride that this woman was his and did not fear to appear before him, but would not other men.”

I was supposed to photocopy this thing for the class but I figured email would be more convenient, and no one's really going to look at it, right? Please pass it around anyway and if you'd like a hard copy and have no email or something just ask.

Cheer up Emily. I know it sucks, but whatever, it's the faith curse. Sheesh. I wanted to tear the bloody scarf up. Nevermind! Like what I said when I was trying to be like, the new shaolin guru or something.

Just go and put up and good show and if the judges are biased or don't like it then it's their own problem. If we win, then it's a bonus!

(yeah right I want to tear their eyes out)

But seriously, we did put up a good show! I got comments and all later and everyone thought we were really cute. And good. And they DEFINITELY thought we deserved the prize more than the other classes. No offense to them, but I think so too (: CHEER UP! It's not the end of the world! Plus, a certain someone apologized (sort of) to all of us today so GOOD. At least that's settled.

And we got cookies... (like that's any consolation, WE GOT SHORTCHANGED TWO @$&@)^W YEARS IN A ROW DAMMIT DAMMIT DAMMIT)

How can we possibly can't even get a 3rd in that stupid indian dance competition? We stayed back almost every recess, with people not having proper recesses and skipping their orange bowls. Others say we didn't get the prize cause once again, we relied on a teacher. But, i am sure none of us blame him, right? For he was the one who helped us through the whole competition. Instead, we should say thanks to him. Still, we lost, by a freaking half mark. Next time we should all just come up with a few steps reapeat them and get it done and over with. We wasted so much time on it! RAAAARRRRR.
Do you guys notice? we seem to be having bad luck, not winning any competition since last year.sigh. maybe, it's just fate.alright, since it's over, there is nothing more we can do. But ms su would like to say," you guys were great." (: Have a good rest! :D
